Meet Liam, our Visual Designer
From app screens to marketing campaigns, our trusty Design team is responsible for building Tide’s visuals. We’d love for you to meet the people behind the Design team – so here’s Liam.
👋Hey Liam! Introduce yourself in a sentence.
Hello, I’m Liam – Tide’s Visual Designer from Pembrokeshire in West Wales.
What’s your background?
I initially studied Industrial/Product Design at university. While I was interested in design principles and theory, I wasn’t sure that product design was right for me, so I ended up interning in Berlin for the best part of a year.
When I returned to London I landed a full-time role at a small creative agency, focussing on visitor attractions, where I worked on projects around the world with the likes of Madame Tussaud’s and Legoland. It was a lot of fun but after a couple of years there I felt like it was time for a step in a different direction.
What made you want to join Tide?
I was looking to get a taste of UX/app design, as I felt it was a natural combination of the design theory I learnt at uni, as well as all of the animation and graphics skills I’d developed since graduating. The team is growing rapidly, so I’ve joined at a really exciting time for Tide and Fintechs in general.
Describe a typical day in your shoes
At the moment my work can range from advertising, illustration and animation to web design.
What’s the most interesting design challenge you’ve come across since you joined Tide?
We’ve been advertising like crazy lately so I’ve been pretty flat out since I joined, but it’s definitely a nice feeling seeing my work popping up around London and the rest of the UK.
What’s your favourite design feature of the app?
I think the new sign-up flow is a big improvement (nice work Will mate 🤝). Otherwise there are lots more very useful features about to be released very soon.
What are you looking forward to most this year?
Developing the Tide brand and doing loads more fun animations in the app and elsewhere. And the Fintech football league!! ⚽
Favourite desk snack?
If I’m lucky there are sometimes Weetabix Minis up for grabs here when I’ve missed breakfast.
When you’re not at Tide, what’s your favourite thing to do?
Playing or watching football and going to art exhibitions 🎨
