About the team
Exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to work in our Ongoing Monitoring team. As a member of the team, we're looking for someone who is passionate about customer experience and fighting financial crime and wants to help drive our business forward as we continue to grow and expand in new markets.
Ongoing Monitoring sits in our first line of defense (1LOD) operations’ department, responsible for monitoring the activity of our SME customers (‘members’) for the purpose of preventing, detecting and reporting sanctions, money laundering, terrorism financing, tax evasion, bribery and corruption, money mules and fraud.
It's an opportunity to work with an amazing team across multiple geographies, including analysts, team leaders, product and engineering managers, data scientists and operations managers. The role has exposure to many senior stakeholders across the business and is at the heart of what we do to protect our customers.
About the role
As an Ongoing Monitoring Manager, you will report to the Head of AML and Prohibited Activities. You will support the definition and implementation of the 1st Line of Defence policies and procedures within this area, covering the UK and EU (Germany, France and any potential future markets). Your role is pivotal in ensuring that Financial Crime practices align with regulatory requirements and internal policies across these jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of AML analysts (including analysts based out of India) who are responsible to engage directly with customers via phone / emails to resolve AML alerts and ongoing investigations.
- In addition to managing a team – you will have responsibility to drive targeted initiatives centrally for the AML/PA team.
- Co-ordinating and managing a consolidated list of all ongoing Risks for both UK/EU markets, prioritise based on criticality and partner with all risk owners and stakeholders for timely closure.
- Responsible for creating operational readiness for new offerings of Tide to market both in existing and new geographies.
- Working alongside the wider Ongoing Monitoring team on setting targets, building processes, optimising workflows and procedures for both UK/EU markets inline with Tide’s policies.
- Overseeing the adequate implementation of Tide’s policies and procedures ensuring strict adherence to FCA’s (transactional monitoring, money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion, human trafficking) requirements;
- Collaborating with Tide’s second line functions on improving the firm’s financial crime prevention controls (preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion, human trafficking) requirements.
- Representing your area in front of different stakeholders, including internal and external auditors;
- Able to detail and rationalise decisions you make based on knowledge of Regulations;
- Support the delivery of the operational risk framework through regular review of key controls and compliance with financial crime policies, to ensure business areas operate within risk appetite for both UK/EU markets;
- Identify, initiate, and drive improvements to current ongoing monitoring processes to increase control and efficiency;
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in the financial industry including time spent in a fast-moving scale-up business (ideally a Fintech).
- Passionate about fighting financial crime and have an excellent understanding of financial crime risks (particularly non-fraud) for a mass market business, ideally in the SME segment; you have experience in the specific types of non-fraud financial crime (especially sanctions, money laundering, terrorism financing, tax evasion, modern slavery, money mules).
- Experience of risk assessments, particularly in relation to new products or product developments and support the area.
- Excited about providing a great member/customer experience.
- Experience working within a regulated environment and have a good understanding of the UK regulations (including POCA, TACT & PSR). You have experience of FCA reporting requirements.
- Experience in a 1st Line of Defence function, Risk & Compliance, or Internal Audit
- Strong communication skills to articulate regulatory risks and trade-offs in processes and procedures.
- Ability to draft clear, concise, and easy-to-understand policies and procedures.
- Experience in challenging senior stakeholders and maintaining robustness under challenge.
- Data driven approach in creating resources for drafts, policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of French or German languages is a great advantage.
