Google Pay FAQs

Google Pay is a feature that allows you to add your payment card to Google wallet, directly from the Tide app. You don’t need to manually enter your card details, as Tide sends your account details to Google Pay to be verified.

Yes, Google Pay is secure.

When you tap your Tide card via the Google Wallet on your device, the Google Pay system uses a number and transaction code unique to your device. Your card number is never stored on your device or Google’s servers, and never shared with a third party.

Your purchases are private too, because Google doesn’t keep transaction information. Any transaction information you do see on your mobile device or in your Tide app is not stored on Google servers.

After adding your Tide card to Google Pay, you should protect your mobile device, in the same way you would protect your Tide card.

Any Android device on version 9.0 or higher, that has near field communication or ‘NFC’ technology, is compatible with Google Pay.

By choosing ‘Settings’ then ‘Connections’ on your Android device, you can check if you have an ‘NFC and contactless payments’ option. If you do, here is where you can choose to turn the NFC on or off.

Here’s the list of Google Play supported devices.

If you’ve tried to add your Tide card to Google Pay and you see an ‘OR-RWE-03’ or ‘OR-TAPSH-08’ error code, this normally means that there’s an issue with your Google account.

You will need to contact Google Pay Help directly to solve the issue, before you can try adding your Tide card again.

If you see this error message, it could be caused by a mistmatch of the addresses. Check that you’re using the same address across both Google Wallet and the Tide app, and then try enabling Google Pay again.

To update your address on your computer, visit the Google payments centre on your Chrome browser. You can add, edit or delete address information in the ‘Addresses’ tab. If you change an address and you have the ‘sync’ feature on your Google profile turned on, your changes will then automatically appear on your other devices.

You might see the error message ‘This card was already added’ because of the addition and removal of the card from Google wallet.

Frequently adding and removing your Tide card will cause Google to flag and prevent you from doing this action. Please wait 24 hours to retry.

Remember, you must add your Tide card directly through the Tide app.
