How do I use my Tide virtual debit card?

Make more online payments today – set up your online debit card in four simple steps. 

  1. Open a free Tide business account and download the app

  2. From the Cards section of your Tide app, select Get the online tools your business needs

  3. Choose Activate online debit card to start spending straight away (as long as your main card is already active)

  4. Enter your security code and tap Done

Virtual debit card FAQs

An online debit card is for online transactions only, but as a debit card, it’s accepted more widely by retailers and providers. That means you’ll be able to make one-off payments and pay for business subscriptions like Google Ads, Amazon business and many more, straight from your Tide account. 

If you’re having trouble using your prepaid Tide card, try using the online debit card instead.

There are just two, current limitations – you can’t add your online debit card to Google or Apple Pay, and you can only have one debit card per business, for your main Tide Business account, and not any of your Additional Business accounts.

You can only use one online debit card at a time. If you need to cancel your online debit card for any reason, you can immediately reorder another one, but you can only reorder a card a maximum of five times within 30 days. 

Although the online debit card isn’t a physical card, members should exercise the same level of caution when using an online debit card, as their physical card. If you believe your online debit card may have been compromised, call 159* from the UK, or tap ‘Support’ > ‘Fraud’ in the app.

If you cancel your online debit card to end a subscription, any future online card details won’t be automatically updated. MasterCard’s Automatic Billing Updater service only works with your physical Tide card, so you should not be charged again, unless you manually update your digital card details later.
