How Call Protection helps prevent scam calls

If a scammer convinces you that they're from Tide, the results can be devastating.

Call Protection helps to prevents scammers from tricking you in multiple ways.

Caller ID

Genuine calls from Tide will show on your phone with a blue screen, the name 'Tide', and our official logo.

After you've turned on Caller ID, do not trust any calls from 'Tide' that don't have these.

Call Verification

When someone calls you claiming to be from Tide, use your Tide app to verify the caller's identity, and to verify your identity to us.

Your Tide app will tell you whether to trust the caller. If it says you shouldn't, end the conversation and call our fraud team on 159.

How to turn on Caller ID

  1. On the ‘Payments’ tab, tap the profile icon in the top right corner.

  2. From here, tap ‘Profile & Settings’ > ‘Login & Security’ > ‘Mobile permissions’.

  3. Toggle ‘Phone Contact Permissions’ on, then agree to the pop up which appears.

  4. Caller ID is now turned on, and genuine Tide calls will show on your phone with a blue screen, the name 'Tide', and our official logo.

This gives Tide access to your contacts. We only use this for Caller ID, and don’t have access to your other contacts, call logs, messages, or any other information.

How to turn on Call Verification

If you're using iPhone, there's nothing you need to do.

If you're using Android, open your Tide app and tap the profile icon in the top right of the 'Payments' tab.

Then tap 'Profile & Settings' > 'Login & Security' > 'Mobile permissions' > 'Phone Contact Permissions' and toggle this on.

How to use Call Verification

Step 1: Open your Tide app

When you're on the phone with someone claiming to be from Tide, you can use Call Verification.

First minimize the call by swiping up or tapping your phone's home button.

Step 2: Verify the caller

In your Tide app, tap 'Support' > 'Are you speaking to Tide?' to verify the caller.

If the caller is genuinely from Tide, you'll see a screen confirming this.

If the caller is not from Tide, your app will let you know. End the conversation and call 159 to reach our fraud team.

Step 3: Verify yourself

You'll then see onscreen instructions to verify yourself. This makes sure we're really talking to you.

Complete the quick steps and continue the conversation, safe in the knowledge that the call is genuine.
