Does the 14-day “cooling off period” apply to my Tide Card Reader purchase?

Consumer rights protections such as the 14-day “cooling off period” do not apply between businesses (including sole traders). The Consumer Rights Act 2015 only applies to contracts that you enter into as a consumer. It does not apply to contracts which you enter into with other businesses in your business capacity. By their nature the Tide Card Reader devices can only be used by our members for purposes relating to their trade or business and are  not intended for consumer use.

Instead, select: ‘Payment’ > enter the price > ‘Continue’, directly on the terminal.

Your customer can tap or insert their card, and the payment will land in your account within 3 business days. 

If you prefer, you can use the Tide app to take a payment with your card reader, too.

In the app, tap: ‘Get paid’ > ‘Take a payment’ > enter the price > ‘Take a payment’.

After your customer taps or inserts their card in the terminal, the payment will land in your account within 3 business days.
