My cheque has been rejected. What happens now?

If your check is rejected, we’ll send you an email to explain why, and give you the next steps – in an email to the address linked to your Tide account.

Cheques may be rejected if they’re issued in someone else’s personal name or in your unverified trading name. Other reasons can be:

  • They’re incomplete or unsigned

  • Contain any mismatch of information (for example, the name or amount)

  • Are issued in an unverified trading name (applicable for Sole Traders)

  • Are older than 6 months (from the date written on the front)

  • Are smudged or faded, or have been folded, torn or crinkled

Make sure all information you give us is accurate and true, and no alterations have been made.

If you still need our help after you’ve received our email, tap ‘Support’ in your app.

If your cheque is older than 6 months, don’t try to deposit it. Instead, contact your payer and ask them to issue a replacement.
