The difference between Tap to Pay on iPhone and the Tide Card Reader device is that with Tap to Pay on iPhone you can collect contactless payments with your phone, whereas the Tide Card Reader is an extra device you’ll need to have with you to receive payments. here.
Your choice may depend on your business model and preferences. If your business is more mobile (for example, food trucks, pop-up shops, etc.), or your customers are comfortable with technology, then Tap to Pay on iPhone will be the better choice for you. If you run a physical shop, the Tide Card Reader might be just as convenient for you.
