Opening a Bank Account

Can I have additional accounts under my main account and how much do they cost?

Yes, you can open additional current accounts under your main account for things like setting aside money for marketing, supplies, salaries and so much more. You can’t open an additional account for the purpose of running another business or limited company, or to segregate your business’s funds from the funds of your customers

Additional accounts were previously free to hold, but we're making a few changes for both Registered Businesses, and Sole Traders.

If you opened your account before 15 October 2024, these changes will take place on 1 December 2024. If you opened your account on 15 October 2024 or after, these changes will take place immediately.

For Registered Businesses:

  • If you’ve opened additional accounts before 1 December 2024, from that date we’ll start charging you £4.99 per month, for each existing account - if you’re not on a paid plan. If you’re on a paid plan, you can have 1, 2 or 3 additional accounts for free, depending on how many are included in your membership plan. Each account you’ve opened above the limit of your plan, will cost £4.99 per month. If you want to open new additional accounts you can do so only at a Paid Plan according to its limit.

  • If you haven’t opened additional accounts before 1 December 2024, and you’re on a paid plan, you can have 1, 2, or 3 additional accounts - depending on your membership.

For Sole Traders:

  • We’re making additional accounts available for Sole Traders on Plus (Smart), Pro and Cashback plan, too. Whether it’s 1, 2 or 3 accounts will be determined by the membership plan.

*Having a main Tide account is always free, whichever membership plan you’re on.
