What is ‘Automatic Billing Updater’ or ‘ABU’?

When you receive a new Tide Card, you normally need to update your card details for any subscriptions that are linked with your old card. 

Instead, and to save you time, we use a secure service from Mastercard, called ‘Automatic Billing Updater’ or ABU. Now, when we issue you a new card, Mastercard will update your subscriptions card details automatically, so you don’t have to. 

If you don’t want your card information to be automatically updated with your new card details, you should cancel your subscription directly with the service provider. 

Your subscriptions won’t be automatically updated if: 

Remember, you are always in control. With Open Banking, you will not share your password and log in details with anyone other than your bank and you can revoke your consent to share this data at any time.

  • Your card was permanently cancelled or replaced as ‘lost or stolen’

  • They’re paid with an online card

  • Bank-level security

Open Banking uses strictly-tested software and security systems. Plus, we will never ask you to share your login details with us.

We’re regulated by the FCA, which you have to be to use Open Banking (or the European equivalent). You can check this on the Financial Services Register

  • We’re a regulated provider

We’re directly enrolled in the Open Banking Implementation Entity directory, which means we’re allowed to provide services through Open Banking. You can also check this in the OBIE directory
